More on why Yahoo sucks...

I have been on this rant for a while - mostly because it is so noticeable how much yahoo has gone downhill. I have had a yahoo mail account for a long time. I even paid for the premium account last year. Apart from more storage - which they are now giving away for free - it basically gets me nothing. I was hoping at the very least that it might get me better support - which being a software guy I figured money always gets you better support, but not with Yahoo.

I really like Yahoo so I mostly talk about this in hopes that Mr. (I am richer than sin) Semel will realize that growth will diminish for his company if he cannot hold onto his long time users. I for one am very impressed with my Gmail account - which is much faster than yahoo mail, has a better interface and god knows has more storage than a 3rd world country has mouths to feed. So apart from my cherished address and all the people that know about it - I am seriously considering switching totally over to gmail.

Check out this recent support exchange I have been having with the Yahoo email support nitwits. Please note that they suggest I try out Yahoo premium mail to solve my issues. Nice - so much for customer service since I already am a premium mail user. I hate these canned responses. Also notice all the content but with none of it addressing the issue I email them about.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

If you believe a message that has been delivered to your Bulk Mail
Folder is more appropriately delivered to your Inbox, please open the
message, and click the "Not spam" button.

By sending examples of "spam" and messages you feel are "not spam" to
Yahoo! for review, it will increase the effectiveness of SpamGuard,
Yahoo! Mail's filtering system. Yahoo! will use the messages you send
to
constantly improve the SpamGuard technology.

If you demand even greater Spam prevention, check out the Yahoo! Mail
Plus service. Yahoo! Mail Plus includes SpamGuard Plus, an enhanced
version of Yahoo!'s SpamGuard.

SpamGuard Plus is tailored to each user's individual preference, as you
train it on what you consider spam and not spam. You train the filter
each time you mark a message as spam or not spam from within your
Yahoo!
Mail Account.

SpamGuard Plus learns specifically what you consider Spam and Not Spam
and filters those messages to the appropriate folder. The more you
train the filters by marking messages Spam or Not Spam, the better they
will work for you.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Regards,

Betty

Oh yes I forgot to say that I had to go to the google search engine because the yahoo serch engine did not have any of these YAHOO SUCKS!!!!! web sites listed on their serch engine. Bunch of big jerks. Real big yahoo jerks.

My problems began with the new ads on yahoo that cause my browser's shockwave plugin to glitch, but that was minor. Then they brought out their "NEW, IMPROVED" interface. "new, improved" my ass. Aside from being uglier (I would have no problem with that), Now the box with the list of folders is so wide (sometimes), that it pushes the messages and everything else off of the right side of the screen. I think the problem there is that they have forgotten to specify the width of the DIV tag for their folder box, and the latest browsers just default to the smallest one that will contain the list. But looking for some way to send feedback to Yahoo about anything other than an ad, I found NONE. I guess they don't want to hear from their users. As for the browser incompatibilities, I suppose I am expected to go out and buy the latest most up-to-date browser, OS, and PC just so I can use Yahoo's EMAIL, but just about every OTHER web site I go to (non-yahoo) works JUST FINE ON MY OLD BROWSER! I, too, would switch services if it weren't such a hassle to inform everyone who emails me that my address has changed. That, and other services have a way of being bought out, like when Yahoo bought out geocities. I could switch to gmail, and within a year or so (especially if LOTS of yahoo users switch), I'll log on one day to find out my account is once more a YAHOO account because yahoo will have bought out gmail.

the CUSTOMER

So regardless of whether or not your yahoo customer

say that your customer cussed at them or was rude when

was taking revenge
as you can clearly read he said he would consider

So If I make similar reports against someone using

Cool! I will report your idiotic lazy evil logic to

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

In this particular case, and based upon similar
reports, we have taken
appropriate action against the Yahoo! account in
question, as per our
Terms of Service (TOS). Please know that Yahoo! is
unable to disclose
the action taken on another user's account with a
third party. We are
not able to make exceptions to this rule.

If in the future you receive an unwanted email message
that appears to
derive from a Yahoo! Mail account, please include the
following in your
report of mail abuse to assist us in a prompt and full
evaluation:

1) Original subject line -- please forward the email
with a subject
identical to the original subject.

2) Complete headers -- email programs often display
abbreviated
headers.
To learn how to display the full headers in a Yahoo!
Mail account,
please visit the Yahoo! Mail Help Desk at:

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/config/config-11.html

If you are using a different client to read your
email, please consult
your email program's help system for more information
on viewing full
headers.

3) Complete message body -- please include the
complete, unedited
content of the email message in question. Please do
not change or edit
the message in any way.

If reports of email abuse are missing any one of these
three items, it
may take longer for the Yahoo! Mail Abuse Team to
properly investigate
and take appropriate action. We appreciate your
efforts in reporting
this abuse to Yahoo!. Due to security restrictions of
our custom
messaging system, we request that you simply forward a
copy of the
message on to us as opposed to sending it in an

I could delete your account, but since you've been so
polite, I think
instead I will create a script to automatically send
you emails
everyday
until you go in and delete your account. I might even
create a random
auto-generated "From" address so you can't block it.
So unless you
delete your account or change your email address, you
can expect a
flood
of emails to start within the next few days. Enjoy!
